Roma’s Kevin Strootman needs more time than originally thought to recover from his knee injury

In March the Dutch midfielder tore his anterior cruciate ligament in a Serie A game against Napoli which forced him to miss out on Holland’s World Cup squad.

Il Tempo are reporting that the 24 year old will not be back in action until late October – early November at the earliest.

It is unclear as of yet how his injury has regressed as Strootman had been thought to be recovering well and had begun light training work in July.

Strootman joined Roma from PSV Eindhoven in last summer’s transfer window for €19 million helping Roma to a second placed finish making 29 appearances and scoring six goals.
