Sampdoria are evaluating a move for Benfica centre back Lisandro Lopez, but any move hinges on the future of Benfica captain Luisao.

The Blucerchiati recently failed to land Inter’s Hugo Campagnaro and have turned their attentions to the Benfica defender as they continue to search for recruits to bolster their back line.

The 24-year-old Argentine defender, could join the Ligurian outfit on a season-long loan according to Sky Sport Italia but only if Juventus are not able to complete a deal for Luisao as Benfica are not prepared to lose two central defenders.

Lopez spent last season on loan at Spanish outfit Getafe on loan from Benfica and previously made his name in his native Argentina with Arsenal de Sarandi where he made in excess of 100 appearances for the side.
