River Plate defender Eder Balanta has been the subject of concrete interest from Sampdoria in recent weeks, with the Blucerchiati now confident of securing the 21-year-old on a permanent transfer.

Il Doria were expected to collaborate with Roma in purchasing the centre back, but have now decided to make their own move for the South American.

Sky Sport Italia reports that the Genoa-based outfit have submitted an offer of 6 million plus bonuses, three of which are payable immediately in the following three months. A deal is expected to be struck in the near future.

Part of Jose Peckerman’s 23-man Colombia squad at the World Cup, the 2014 Argentine Primera Division winner is highly touted by many South American experts, even drawing comparisons with the legendary Daniel Passarella.
