The coach of Stjarnan Runes Pall Sigmundsson claims that his side are well prepared for their Europa League play-off with Inter and ‘aim to get a result’ against the Serie A side.

The Nerazzurri face the Icelandic side at 23:00 CET on Wednesday night at the Laugardalsvollur in Reykjavik hoping to book their place in the Europa League group stages.

“We are ready for the match, we are well prepared and arrive with a mindset that is ready to fight,” Sigmundsson told the press.

“We have tried to analyse Inter and their style of play, but tomorrow [Wednesday] we will go over the video again.”

Stjarnan finished third in the Urvalsdeild last season after only being promoted to the top tier in 2008, and the coach is confident that his side can pull off an upset.

“We aim to get a result, they are not yet in top form, and we must face them with an intelligent approach.

“They’re definitely the strongest team we have met, but we know the strengths and weaknesses of the Nerazzurri.”

Both Stjarnan and Inter have never faced a side from Italy and Iceland respectively, but while this is Stjarnan’s first appearance in European competition, Inter have won the past equivalents of the Europa League on three occasions.
