Fernando Torres gave his first interview as an AC Milan player outlining his ambitions and reasons for joining.

The 30 year-old striker has joined the Rossoneri on a two-year loan deal after a difficult three year stay with Chelsea.

Speaking to Milan Channel the former Liverpool and Atletico Madrid target man expressed his delight at joining Milan.

“It’s an honour and a privilege to wear the Milan shirt,” Torres declared having arrived in Italy to undergo his medical.

“I want to help Milan return to the Champions League and hopefully stay there for many years to come.”

Torres named his former Atletico Madrid team mate Demetrio Albertini among his reasons for joining the club.

“I already know some of the Milan players like Alex, [Michael] Essien and Diego Lopez,” the Spaniard continued.

“[Demetrio] Albertini has also told me good things about Milan. He is a close friend of mine.”

Milan sold striker Mario Balotelli to Torres’ former club Liverpool which aided in the Spaniard’s switch to Serie A.

“I want to make the AC Milan fans happy, I have already spoken with coach [Filippo] Inzaghi,” Torres concluded.

The striker will now go through his medical checks and could be in the Milan line-up for their clash with Parma.
