Former AC Milan forward Adel Taarabt has been given a warning by Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp to get back in shape or risk getting shipped out of London.

The 25-year-old playmaker who enjoyed a successful stint with Milan during the second half of last season has been linked with a return to the San Siro this summer and could be looking for a way back to Italy despite the Rossoneri unwillingnes to pay Taarabt’s €7 million price tag.

However according to the Daily Express, Redknapp still feels Taarabt is an asset and remains reluctant to lose the Moroccan as QPR face a tough task at securing a place in the Premier League following their 2013-2014 promotion from The Championship.

“I don’t think he is close to leaving,” said Redknapp.

“He hasn’t trained. He would have come to Germany but the first day back training he wasn’t fit and he hasn’t been fit to train since.”

“Then he said he was going to Milan last week. He hasn’t gone, so what we need to do with him is get him fit. He’s got to train morning, noon and night really, whether he stays here or goes.

“I’ve got a lot of time for Adel. Now he needs to get fit, work hard and get himself in shape. He is way out of shape in all honesty.”
