Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has denied to comment on the English club’s progress in their mission to secure Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Red Devils this summer with reports suggesting that the Premier League side may be willing to offer the Bianconeri €40 million plus the playing rights of Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez and Nani, though the team’s coach refuses to speak on the matter.

Van Gaal spoke to the press about Manchester United’s market progress and was adamant that he will only discuss the club’s transfer business with United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

“I will not speak of Vidal or other matters regarding our transfers with you,” said the former Netherlands national team boss.

“I’ll only speak about such things with Ed Woodward.”

The Red Devils would reportedly be ready to pursue either Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin or Roma’s Kevin Strootman if negotiations with Vidal were to fail.
