Torino coach Giampiero Ventura has stated that new signing Fabio Quagliarella will not start in Thursday’s match against Swedish side Brommapojkarna.

The 31-year-old striker struggled for regular playing time at Juventus last season and Ventura believes that his new acquisition is not prepared to start in the Granata’s UEFA Europa League third qualifying round match.

“Tomorrow he will be one step closer to not just a physical state but also mental one like all those who made pre-season training from the first day,” Ventura told www.torinogranata.it on Wednesday.

“[It is] all the more reason, then, from Quagliarella we cannot expect sci-fi things but simply a move towards what is our way of being and to interpret the game and football.”

Torino won the first leg 3-0 in Sweden but Ventura was not looking to far ahead into the campaign and that his team has to be consistent.

“There are goals for different people. The president [Urbano Cairo] wants to reach the final,” Ventura said with a laugh.

“At this point if we can compete in the group stage, we have a roster that is not huge but enough consistency can give us some breathing room.”
