Amauri – Parma

New Torino striker Amauri admitted that he wants to score a goal against the Granata’s local rivals and his old club Juventus.

The 34-year-old signed for Toro from Parma on transfer deadline day and said he is looking forward to a new challenge in his career under Giampiero Ventura.

“I wanted a new challenge and to get back to playing regularly,” said Amauri to Tuttosport.

“Torino were the team that wanted me the most and I can’t wait to get started.

“I’m very enthusiastic to be joining the Granata and I always enjoy a challenge.

“I’ll look to help Torino and keep the positive run of results going.”

Amauri also revealed the transfer was set in motion towards to end of last season.

“The move was made possible towards the end of last season, when we at Parma travelled to the Stadio Olimpico for the game that could have decided who would qualify for the Europa League.

“Let’s say the first enquiries were made at that time and now they have been finalised.”

The Brazilian-born Italy international was reluctant to talk about his time at Torino’s rivals Juve but admitted he would enjoy scoring against the Scudetto winners:

“That’s in the past, I live in the present.

“That relationship ended badly but now I’m at Torino and now I think only about Torino.

“It would be brilliant to score a goal in the Turin derby.

“Great for the fans but also for me.”
