Roma general manager Mauro Baldissoni has revealed that Kevin Strootman is not for sale despite rumours claiming the midfielder will make his exit from the capital city club this winter.

The injured 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a January move to Manchester United in recent weeks, as he’s expected to be fully healed in the coming months, though the Giallorossi have continuously expressed their intentions to keep the Dutchman in Rome for as long as possible.

Baldissoni spoke to Sky Sport Italia about Strootman’s situation at Roma, while also commenting on the current strength of the Lupi squad and their impressive return to the Champions League.

“It’s a strength to have Francesco Totti and Miralem Pjanic on the field, or even if they’re on the bench, it goes both ways,” said the general manager.

“While on the other hand, we now even have many alternatives that are available to the coach anyway.

“Strootman to Manchester United? We cannot wait for the moment he steps back on the field because we’ve been missing him and that moment is approaching, we are proud to have him in our team and he is not for sale.

“Our goal was to make it back into the Champions League. We are happy that we achieved that goal and will now play against great teams, fortunately we have been able to have a positive start.”
