Rafael Benitez NapoliNapoli coach Rafa Benitez will reportedly meet with club president Aurelio de Laurentiis in November in order to discuss terms of a new contract.

The meeting has long been overdue as the Azzurri president is away on business in the USA despite the club’s recent struggles on the pitch.

Sky Sport Italia report that the meeting will take place in November and among the items on the agenda will be a new contract for the 54-year-old coach, which will be dependent on results.

De Laurentiis has been criticised in some quarters following the perceived failure to invest adequately in the transfer market in the summer and the criticism has been exacerbated by the club’s exit from the Champions League in the qualifying stages at the hands of Athletic Club.

The Partenopei came from behind to defeat Sparta Prague 3-1 in their first Europa League group game on Thursday, but lost at home to Chievo last Sunday in Serie A.
