Richmond Boakye AtalantaOn-loan Atalanta striker Richmond Boakye has spoken of his delight at being with the Bergamo club after their 2-1 win over Cagliari on Sunday afternoon.

The 21 year-old, who is owned by Juventus, scored his side’s winning goal and his first for La Dea since arriving in the summer.

“I thank God, Cagliari are a good side but we were all very strong today and our squad deserve credit,” the youngster told Sky Sport Italia.

The Nerazzurri were weakened in the summer by the loss of star players Giacomo Bonaventura and Andrea Consigli, but the Ghanaian forward remains optimistic of his side’s chances for the season ahead.

“I was sorry about Consigli and Bonaventura as they are fantastic players, but this club is extraordinary and our objective always remains to climb as high as possible up the table.”

Atalanta are currently sitting in fifth place, with a win and a draw taken from their opening two matches.
