Cagliari will face Torino on Wednesday night at the Stadio Sant’Elia in Serie A.

Both sides will be looking to kickstart their season having achieved one point from a possible nine in their opening three games.

The corresponding fixture last season ended with a victory for the home side courtesy of a brace from skipper Daniele Conti, with current Borussia Dortmund striker Ciro Immobile netting Toro’s only goal.

The previous seven meetings between both teams have seen five wins for Cagliari, one win for Torino, and one draw which dates back to 2009 when both sides played out a 0-0 stalemate.

Zdenek Zeman’s men have drawn two and lost one in their opening three games this season. Their only point came against Sassuolo in the opening gameweek but have since succumbed to two successive defeats against Atalanta and Roma respectively.

The Granata on the other hand have endured an identical run of form to their opponents, drawing their opening game of the season against Inter and losing twice to both Sampdoria and Hellas Verona.

Cagliari will miss Swedish midfielder Sebastian Eriksson on Wednesday having sustained a cruciate ligament injury at the end of last season.

On the other hand, Torino will miss the services of Alexander Farnerud, Migjen Basha, and Antonio Nocerino all through injury. The latter picked up a knock in Toro’s UEFA Europa League tie against Club Brugge and is expected to be out for 45 days.
