Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva believes that the Aquilotti were a bit unlucky in their away defeat to Genoa on Sunday after putting on a good showing throughout the match.

The Biancocelesti fell 1-0 to the Grifone after a late goal from Mauricio Pinilla in the final minutes of the game and the 27-year-old thinks the capital city club deserved a better result after doing everything right except for scoring a much needed goal.

Candreva spoke to Il Messaggero after the loss to Genoa about the impressive performance Lazio put up against their hosts and admitted that his team must be more decisive in front of the net.

“I can’t remember another game like this by heart,” said the Italian international. “We had played a quality first half and we imposed our game just as coach [Stefano] Pioli wanted.

“The only thing we had granted to Genoa throughout the first half was a cross by Andrea Bertolacci.

“It’s not every Sunday that we create so many chances, but we must be able to put the ball in the net, we must be more cynical.

“I also think we lacked a bit of luck, I keep thinking back to when Filip Djordjevic hit the crossbar.

“Now we will only be focused on our match against Udinese on Thursday. However, I’d give Lazio a rating of around 7.5 for this game even though we lost.”
