Former England national team boss Fabio Capello believes that Liverpool is the right place for Mario Balotelli to continue maturing as both a player and a person and compared the striker to Antonio Cassano.

The 24-year-old joined the Reds from AC Milan in August as a replacement for the departed Luis Suarez, who left the English club for Barcelona over the summer, and is still in the process of integrating with his new team after an inconsistent run with the Rossoneri last term and a rough World Cup campaign with Italy.

Capello spoke to Fox Sports about Balotelli’s arrival at Liverpool and the differences between the Italian and Suarez, while also commenting on the similarities he shares with Cassano.

“Suarez changed game, he reminds me a lot of Raul,” said the current Russian national team coach. “When the game would be asleep, Raul would wake it up, along with the public.

“Cassano in Italy with Francesco Totti is number one in the last 20 metres, only that Totti was able to do what he did and Cassano would give you some bad behaviour occasionally. Balotelli reminds me a bit of him.

“I think the atmosphere at Liverpool will help him improve his behaviour and not react so badly.”
