Chievo coach Eugenio Corini praised his side’s spirit after they beat Napoli 1-0 away at the Stadio San Paolo.

The Flying Donkeys boss was encouraged to see his side pick up three points after a difficult-looking start to the season with Juventus at home followed by Napoli away.

“We are still in a transition phrase,” said Corini to Mediaset Premium after the game.

“We’ve made some changes, we’ve put in the Under-21 Italy side’s goalkeeper [Francesco Bardi].

“We need to grow but I’ve seen positive signs.

“We’ve worked a lot on our fitness in recent weeks and against Juventus we played 4 or 5 players who needed the playing time.

“I like our spirit, we all suffered together.”

Corini also paid tribute to Ceo’s goalscorer Maxi Lopez.

“He has extraordinary qualities.

“I wanted to work on him because I believe in his human values and I want to turn him back into the champion he is.

“He can get into double figures, in two years at AC Milan [sic.] he was an important figure.”
