Parma defender Paolo De Ceglie has revealed that the Gialloblu had fought hard until the end of their match against AC Milan on Sunday with hopes of securing a positive result.

The Crociati fell slightly short of earning a point after suffering a thrilling 5-4 home defeat to the Rossoneri and the 27-year-old admits that his team may have been able to do better if they had paid more attention to certain aspects of their opponent’s game.

De Ceglie spoke to Parma Channel following the unlucky loss to Milan about the unpredictability that carried on until the last minute of the game, while also commenting on the talent of Diavolo forward Jeremy Menez, who scored a brace against Parma.

“This game definitely played out as one of the more entertaining matches,” said the Italian. “It was a shame that we weren’t able to take any points because it seemed like anything could have happened today.

“Anything was possible in this great game and with a little extra attention to certain details we could have probably gained some points at home.

“Did we believe in a comeback? We had always believed in ourselves, especially in the second half. And the game remained standing until the very last second.

“Menez? Surely it was a game with a lot of space, so he had been able to take advantage of his qualities, like his speed.”
