AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong has revealed that he’s happy with the Diavolo and will be looking to sign a contract extension with the club in the near future.

The 29-year-old, whose current deal with the Rossoneri is set to expire in June 2015, admits that he wants to remain with the San Siro outfit for quite some time despite rumours linking him with a move away from the Italian side and confirmed that he and his agent are set to meet with the club to discuss a renewal in the coming days.

De Jong spoke to Tuttosport about his wishes to stay at AC Milan and praised coach Pippo Inzaghi, while also commenting on his team’s upcoming home match with Juventus on Saturday.

“I’m happy to still be at Milan, this is a great team,” said the Dutch international, who was thought to be on the verge of joining former Netherlands national team boss Louis van Gaal at Manchester United over the summer.

“I’ll be speaking to the club about a renewal next week when my agent arrives. My main intention is to stay with the Rossoneri.

“The team has been growing through every game, but it’s still too early to talk about the Scudetto.

“The energy of coach Inzaghi is felt throughout the whole group, he’s a coach who’s all about football all the time.

“Our match with Juventus? We’ll arrive at the game with great confidence, we must believe that we can beat them without forgetting that they’re the favourites to win the league.

“This serves to be a perfect match. From the Bianconeri I would take my friend Carlos Tevez, a fantastic striker.”
