Roma primavera coach Alberto De Rossi praised the standard of young Italian players.

The father of the Giallorossi midfielder Daniele De Rossi also encouraged fans and parents to take more of an interest in the development of young players without putting pressure on them.

“The driving force of my job is passion,” said De Rossi to Roma Radio.

“To see the debut of one of my boys in Serie A is very emotional.”

The youth coach was asked about how to reform Italian football so that more young players make the step up to first team football.

“Talented young Italian players are all around us.

“I would recommend that parents fairly judge the work of coaches but not try to involve themselves with team matters.

“My Primavera side has a great desire to stick together and train.”

De Rossi then went on to speak about his Roma side’s participation in the UEFA Youth League where they have been drawn alongside Manchester City, Bayern Munich and CSKA Moscow in the group stage and the Giallorossi will kick off against the Russians on September 17.

“In the Youth League we will try to have our say. I thank the club who are allowing us to play a lot of games abroad.

“It would make me happy to see a lot of fans at our games. I invite everybody to come and support us.”
