Sassuolo coach Eusebio Di Francesco admits he was left bewildered by the Neroverdi’s heavy 7-0 defeat to Inter on Sunday afternoon.

The Neroverdi were torn apart by Inter at the San Siro with Mateo Kovacic, Pablo Osvaldo, Fredy Guarin and Mauro Icardi scoring the goals in what Di Francesco admits was a bad performance from his men.

“7-0? I’m asking myself how it happened, but it has happened and we must be realistic,” Di Francesco told Sky Sport Italia.

“We went from hero to zero in about a week, very easily. I struggle to find excuses, there is great regret because I was not expecting a performance like that.

“[Simone] Zaza’s disappointing display? It is wrong to expect too much from him, he has been talked about alot recently and maybe that did not help him.

“Pointing the finger at one player is not right. Today, if I could, I would have changed all eleven players.

“Kovacic literally made the difference in the first half and we worked hard, but maybe it was not enough, we must do even more.”
