Sassuolo boss Eusebio Di Francesco admits that the would have been more satisfied with his team if they were able to secure the three points over Sampdoria, though he’s still happy with their overall showing.

The Neroverdi ended their home meeting with the Blucerchiati in a goalless draw on Sunday and although the tactician was impressed by his squad’s improved attitude after their 7-0 loss to Inter last week, he would have preferred the extra effort needed to earn a victory.

Di Francesco spoke to Rai Due after the match about Sassuolo’s performance against Sampdoria and commented on Francesco Acerbi’s showing throughout the game, as the defender made his first appearance for the team since overcoming a cancer diagnosis that was made last season.

“The difference compared to the challenge at the San Siro was in our spirit,” said the 45-year-old. “We were good at the start by giving Sampdoria very few chances.

“However, we experienced a little difficulty on the still balls in the first half. I would have been happier if we had taken all three points.

“Acerbi? He has made himself available, his experience has helped him mature a lot and it showed today on the field. With a difficult man to mark like Stefano Okaka, he had proven to be one of the best on the field.”
