Discussions over the renewal of Fiorentina midfielder Alberto Aquilani’s contract have been set for October.

The player is out of contract next year, and there had previously been reports suggesting that La Viola and the 30-year-old would not be sitting down to discuss a new deal anytime soon.

According to Alfredo Pedulla, discussions have finally been scheduled for mid-October, when the club and representatives of the player will meet to discuss the next step.

The former Liverpool player is believed to be keen on extending his stay in Florence, after making 31 Serie A appearances last term.

Aquilani was purchased from the Premier League club in 2012 in a deal worth a reported 9 million.
