Florenzi – Roma

Roma midfielder Alessandro Florenzi has insisted that Roma’s superb opening against CSKA Moscow was planned.

The Giallorossi were 4-0 up within 31 minutes against the Russians and went on to win the match 5-1.

“Mr Garcia set the team out to start the game well,” Florenzi told Sky Sport Italia.

“We had to get off to a strong start in this tough group, we did that so we are happy.

“For the fifth goal I got a touch, we’ll see who it gets assigned to.”

Replays, however, show that the ball was clearly headed into his own net by Sergei Ignashevich.

Florenzi was also asked whether he tried to impress new Italy coach Antonio Conte who was in the stands at the Olimpico.

“When I am on the pitch, I don’t think about anything off it. I just focus on the game and try to help the team win.”
