AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has said that the Rossoneri bought former Atalanta midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura only when a move for Parma winger Jonathan Biabiany had broke down.

Bonaventura was initially heading to Inter but that all changed when a swap between Biabiany and Milan defender Cristian Zaccardo broke down, resulting in the Rossoneri making a move for the Atalanta star.

“There is no controversy, no one has said anything wrong,” Galliani told Milannews.it.

“[Inter technical director Piero] Ausilio is right. We were getting Biabiany and we could not get both Bonaventura and him.

“We went for Jack when the Biabiany-Zaccardo [swap] broke down.”

AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi has already praised Bonaventura since arriving at Milanello and the winger could make an impact for Inzaghi’s team.

“It is true that Pippo has spoken very well about Bonaventura,” said Galliani. “He says that he is very versatile and he can do well.”
