AC Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani has defended Lazio president Claudio Lotito after he came in for criticism for his stance on allowing B teams into the league.

Lotito is the representative of Lega Calcio within the FIGC, and was present at the press conference held with Carlo Tavecchio in Rome, where the issue of owners haveing multiple teams was dicussed.

Galliani wrote in the Corriere Della Serra outlining his opinion of Lotito, and clarifying his stance on a number of the proposals put before the league, which included a number of reforms of the league system.

“What he does, he does not do for himself,” the Rossoneri vice-president said, “but because he represents the whole Lega Calcio.”

“I do not have a backseat,” he continued, “I am the vice-president of the league and the proposal of the owning multiple teams was mine.”

“Italy is the land of towers, ” Galliani explained, “and owning multiple teams would protect it. If Monza became Milan B we would lose something.”
