Alessandro Matri believes his side Genoa are in good shape ahead of the derby against Sampdoria this weekend.

The Italian forward scored twice to give Genoa a 2-0 lead at Verona before his side drew 2-2 on Wednesday night at the Bentegodi, however Matri thinks Genoa do not have to make any sweeping changes ahead of the match.

“We do not have to change too much ahead of the derby,” Matri told Sky Sport Italia after the game in Verona.

“We all know it is a very important game for the city of Genoa.

“We have to focus on playing to the best of our ability

“As always in derbies the most important thing is to win for our fans.”

The result in Verona leaves Genoa in eighth place with five points from four Serie A games.

Sampdoria go into the derby after a victory over the other Verona based side, Chievo, which saw them climb to fourth place.
