Roma forward Gervinho believes his side were great as they beat CSKA Moscow 5-1 in the Champions League.

The Giallorossi made a stunning return to Europe’s top club competition, with the Ivorian scoring twice in the first half, but Gervinho insists he did not expect an easy game against the Russians.

“We were not expecting an easy game and it certainly was not,” Gervinho told Sky Sport Italia.

“We played a great match both in the first and second half.”

With the victory Roma find themselves top of Group E ahead of German Champions Bayern Munich.

However Gervinho is not worried about the others sides in Roma’s group.

“I am not worried about Bayern [Munich] or Manchester City. I never worry about our opponents. I am only ever concerned with my own team.”

Roma travel to Manchester City on match day two before back to back games against Bayern in October.
