Roma’s Ivorian forward Gervinho has extended his current deal with the capital club.

The former Arsenal winger joined the Giallorossi last year and has revitalised his career with an excellent first season in Serie A, scoring nine goals in 33 appearances. As a result the club had been keen to agree an extension of his contract.

On Monday Roma issued a press release confirming that they had reached an improved deal with the player. The new agreement will run for four years and expire on June 30 2018.

Gervinho’s previous contract was set to end in 2017, and he will earn €2 million a season, plus bonuses.
