Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin has revealed that he’s proud to have worn the captain’s armband in the Biscione’s Europa League meeting with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk on Thursday.

The 28-year-old led the Serie A side in the place of captain Andrea Ranocchia, who was on the bench as a substitute, as the Nerazzurri were able to secure a 1-0 away win over their Ukrainian opponents and he admits that he was extremely happy to be given such an opportunity.

Guarin spoke to Inter Channel after the San Siro outfit’s victory over Dnipro about the emotions he felt while leading the team he loves to an important win.

“Wearing the captain’s armband has been a source of pride and happiness,” said the Colombian international. “I’m proud because I’ve always expressed what Inter means to me.

“To wear the armband today has been a great pleasure for me, but what’s given me even more pleasure is to be able to win a game like this, with a group like this.”
