Hellas Verona have cancelled their pre-match press conference on Tuesday in response to the sudden death of midfielder Emil Hallfredsson’s father’s overnight.

Coach Andrea Mandorlini was due to face media on Tuesday on the eve of Verona’s match against Genoa but the club have confirmed that the event has been called off.

The club’s official website confirms that the decision to cancel press conference was in reaction to the news of the death of the Icelandic midfielder’s father.

“We are with you, Emil. We want you to feel our love, our strength, our heart,” a message read on the club’s official website.

The 30 year old Icelandic international, loaned to Verona by Reggina in the year 2010, has made 135 appearances for the Gialloblu.

Verona have also put in a request to the Lega Calcio to allow them to wear black armbands in their match against Genoa.
