lorenzo insigne fabio borini u21After receiving criticism for his performances as Napoli had missed out on the lucrative group stages of the Champions League attacker Lorenzo Insigne has brushed off any fears that he may be affected by the crowds jeers towards him and is simply focusing on the pitch and regaining a place in the Italian national team.

After travelling to Brazil for the World Cup this summer, the diminutive 23-year-old was left out of Antonio Conte’s first Azzurri squad for the friendly with Netherlands and Euro 2016 qualifier against Norway, and insisted he will continue to work hard for selection again.

“The important thing is to get on the field, then the fans can cheer or boo,” Insigne told Sky Sport Italia.

“To be selected for the national team? Should I overindulge with Napoli, I just have to continue working until they come calling.

When it arrives I will be very happy, but until that now I have to keep working.”
