Inter coach Walter Mazzarri expects his side to win their opening Europa League Group F game against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk despite the difficulties of playing in Ukraine.

The Nerazzurri boss has previously struggled against Ukrainian sides in Europe having lost both legs of a Round of 32 UEFA Cup tie to Metalist Kharkiv in 2008/09 when at Sampdoria, and also suffered a 3-1 defeat to Dnipro with Napoli in 2012/13 Europa League group stage.

“We always go on to the pitch to win and we will do the same tomorrow, even if it’s always difficult against Ukrainian teams,” the 52-year-tactician said during his pre-match press conference.

“When I was at Napoli I lost against Dnipro and with Sampdoria against Metalist, as these teams play good football. We need to be wary.

“Dnipro are a side in great physical shape, a strong team that is very aggressive, but I like that challenge.

Mazzarri also confirmed that Jonathan and Hugo Campagnaro are available for selection after injury and that he believes his squad is capable on competing in three competitions this season.

“Will I rotate the squad? It’s only normal when you play every three days that a coach considers all the options,” he continued.

“We will try to do our best in the three competitions – Serie A, Europa League and Coppa Italia – then at the end see what we were capable of achieving.

“We have a squad capable of competing on three fronts and will try to go as far as possible.”
