AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi has expressed his happiness at returning to Parma, the team he plied his trade for early in his career.

The Rossoneri are set to face Roberto Donadoni’s men on Sunday at 20:45 CET, and the former striker says that he has fond memories of his time at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

“To return to Parma is always nice,” Inzaghi said in the post-match press conference. “I have many fond memories of my time there.

“The game will be very difficult especially because we are away from home, but I have faith in my players.

“Let’s not forget that this is a side which finished eighth last season, and must be given time to find their identity.”

“Parma also beat us twice last season, and [Antonio] Cassano is set to return on Sunday as well, which is good news for them.”

Inzaghi then went on to speak about his choices for the game against the Ducali, saying that Stephan El Shaarawy will most likely miss the game due to injury.

“His condition is not good,” he said. “I was hoping to restore him for the game but he will most likely miss it.

“I feel really sorry for him, but luckily we have the players who can replace Stephan.

“I can safely say that Alex will start in the game against Parma, but we still haven’t decided on the rest of the defensive line.

“[Giacomo] Bonvanteura on the left? Maybe, but not tomorrow; we also have [Riccardo] Saponara who can play in that role really well.”

The striker then went on to compare between Fernando Torres and former Milan man Mario Balotelli, whilst also dismissing rumours that Adil Rami will miss the game due to behavioral reasons.

“They are completely different players,” he said. “Mario always wants the ball at his feet unlike Fernando.

“Every game we’ll play depending on how our opponents line up and this is something I’ve already told the players.

“Rami is not out due to behavioral problems, he is a very important member of our squad.”

Inzaghi then went on to say that the side must play with desire in order to win the fans back, as well as speaking about Milan’s Serie A chances.

“We have to win the fans back,” he started. “We don’t just have to win, the fans need to see the desire they saw against Lazio.

“We must not delude ourselves, the road is still long; we must do anything to win.”

The former Italian international then praised Italy coach Antonio Conte, saying that he is happy to see him leading the Azzurri.

“I’ve played with him before and I know his way,” Inzaghi said. “I’m very happy to see Antonio leading the national team.”
