After a somewhat lack lustre draw against Torino at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night, Inter defender Juan Jesus claimed that it was an important point for the Nearazzurri, particularly as the home side wasted an opportunity to take the lead from a first-half penalty.

The 23-year-old now feels that the Milan based club can look forward to their next match at the San Siro against Sassuolo after the international break, but will have to do so without defensive partner Nemanja Vidic who was sent-off on his Serie A debut.

“We look at this result from a positive point of view because we could also lose if [Marcelo] Larrondo had scored his penalty,” Jesus told Tuttomercatoweb.

“It was an important point, because we know the difficulties that we are playing with Torino, then this draw was positive and now we have to think about winning at the San Siro.

“Torino were well set-up on the pitch and Ventura has deployed a team a little defensive, in fact, there was almost 8 or 9 players defending. We have tried everything to open spaces attacking with so many men and at the end we drew, then, as I said, the point is fine.”

With new arrival Gary Medel making his Inter debut in Turin the Brazilian praised his fellow South American for his never-say-die attitude before conceding that it is probably him or Frenchman Yann M’Vila for the central defensive midfield role this season.

“Medel did very well, he is someone who runs for ninety minutes and at the end he told us that he was a little tired because it is still in top form, but from my point of view played very well and everyone is happy for what he has done in the field.

“I guess that Medel and M’Vila would not play together,” conceded Jesus. “Although they are two different players and both have behaved very well and I think [coach Walter] Mazzarri has done well in choosing them, there would be problem in making them play together.”
