Juventus centre back Angelo Ogbonna has today received a call-up to the Italian national team after an injury to Parma player Gabriel Paletta ruled him out of contention.
The Ducali defender was part of new coach Antonio Conte’s original 27-man squad, but has now been sent home due to a sciatic nerve condition.
Ogbonna has already played six times for the Azzurri but has failed to live up to his early promise after his move across the city from Torino to rivals Juventus in 2013.
However, the defender was in the starting XI at the weekend as the Bianconeri kicked off their Serie A campaign with a 1-0 away win over Chievo.
