Juventus midfielder Romulo will be out for a period of time as he recovers from surgery to deal with a sporting hernia.

The Brazilian-born Italian international went under the knife in a Munich clinic and now he faces a period on the sidelines before he will again be eligible for selection.

According to news agency ANSA, Romulo will need to undergo a recovery period of 30 days.

The former Hellas Verona man also penned an open letter to the club thanking them for their support:

“First of all, I would like to thank God, I am sure he is in control of everything.

“The surgery was a success (it was quite a simple procedure) and in a few days I will be at my best (to help Juventus but also to get back to dreaming of playing for Azzurri)

“I would like to thank Juve for having faith in me and for looking after me at the moment

“My parents could not give me a lot of material things but they taught me the most important things in life (things that money cannot buy).

“More than anything they taught me to give back more than what I am given and Juve have given me a lot of good things.

“For me it is a question of honour and character: to give lots back to Juventus.

“I don’t mean just to play well but to be a real professional and above all a real man.

“I thank all the staff (Medical and technical) and my teammates for writing nice things.”
