Roma midfielder Seydou Keita has revealed that he was proud to wear the captain’s armband in the capital city club’s victory over Parma on September 24.

The 34-year-old was given the opportunity to wear the captain’s armband after Francesco Totti was substituted out of the match late in the second half of the Giallorossi’s 2-1 home win against Parma and he admits that the chance to lead the Italian side is a memory that will stick with him forever.

Keita wrote on his official Twitter page following the triumph over Parma about how honoured he felt to wear the armband for a club like Roma and praised his team for securing the three points.

“This victory is much more important than the three points, it will help make the team much stronger,” said the former Barcelona man. “Good job, boys. Forza Roma.

“To wear the captain’s armband for a club that is so important is a great honour, I’ll never forget this day. It’s a great honour.”
