Lazio have suffered an injury blow with the news that summer signing Santiago Gentiletti faces six months on the sideline.

The 29 year old Argentinian, who arrived from San Lorenzo in the summer, snapped his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the 1-0 loss to Genoa on Sunday afternoon.

Lazio issued the statement last night on their website, and Gentiletti was not the only casualty as Lucas Biglia and Dusan Basta also picked up injuries on what proved to be a miserable night at the Marassi.

“This evening the players Santiago Gentiletti, Lucas Biglia and Dusan Basta have undergone instrumental and clinical tests at the Paideia clinic.

“For Santiago Gentiletti there is a complete lesion of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee. In the next few days the player will undergo surgery. The prognosis is estimated at about six months.

“Lucas Biglia suffered a capsular trauma and fracture of the first toe in the right foot with bone infringement of the sesamoid bone and metatarsal head. The player will undergo further tests in 3-4 days.

“Dusan Basta suffered a trauma of the right hand with distraction of the metacarpofalangea without bone lesions. The player will have further tests in the next 48 hours.”
