Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has paid tribute to new signing Mario Balotelli after his impressive debut performance against Tottenham.

The 24 year old ex-AC Milan striker started and played an hour of his new side’s convincing 3-0 victory away to Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Balotelli had an excellent debut, he has settled well and behaved well in training, leaving behind all the talk that preceded it,” Rodgers told reporters after the game.

“Today I felt that anything that could go well, did go well.

“Our defensive organization was very good, we played with a midfield diamond for the first time, leading to various threats that department and the two boys in attack were fantastic.

We scored three goals, but we could have scored even more.”
