Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has emerged as a shock transfer target for Serie A Champions Juventus. The Bianconeri are said to be looking at alternatives to Stephan Lichtsteiner.

The contract of the English international expires in June 2015, with no new deal on offer at The Reds he could leave the club in January.

Johnson has made 143 appearances for Liverpool since joining from Portsmouth in 2009, scoring seven goals. The attack minded full back could be available and, according to Tuttosport, could leave if the deal was right for both parties.

If Johnson does not arrive, attention will apparently turn to Ignazio Abate of AC Milan and Barcelona’s Daniel Alves, both players contracts also expire at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, French website Le10sport.com have also indicated that Real Madrid are also eyeing the defender.
