Fiorentina have put the final touches to a deal to bring Manchester City’s Micah Richards to the Artemio Franchi.

The Englishman arrived in Tuscany on Monday morning and has concluded his medical shortly before the deadline passed.

Richards, 26, joins the Viola on a season long loan deal with the Italian club having the option to purchase him outright at the end of the season should they wish to do so.

He is the second English international defender to make the move to Serie A this summer following Roma’s acquisition of Ashley Cole.

Having come through the youth system at City, he spent his whole career with the reigning Premier League champions until his late switch to the Gigliati.
