Hellas Verona coach Andrea Mandorlini insists his team are ready for the challenge of Palermo as the two sides are set to meet on Monday evening.

The Scala coach has been working with his side over the international break but remained tight-lipped on whether Javier Saviola will make his debut in the match.

Mandorlini spoke at length to HellasVerona.it explaining how what he expects from the match-up with the Rosanero.

“Palermo are a team with a lot of the qualities we had last season,” he acknowledged, “the enthusiasm for returning to Serie A, and lots of youth.”

“I know it will be difficult,” the Mastini coach continued, “and only on the field will we know if we’re good enough at doing certain things.”

“We have 17 new players,” he continued, “and all challenges and workouts should be directed around growth, because points will start to be important.”

Meanwhile, with Argentinian signing Javier Saviola pushing for a debut, Mandorlini refused to be drawn on whether the former Barcelona and Real Madrid forward would be given a start.

“I understand the curiosity of the fans,” the former Sassuolo coach went on. “Javier has done some important things in his career and is now ready [to play], so we’ll see. He can play, and he knows I must always find the right time and the right situation.”
