Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano admits he turned down the opportunity to join Napoli in the summer.
The 30 year Argentinian captain has since signed a new deal until 2018 at the Camp Nou, that ensures he ends his career in Spain.
“The opportunity to come to Naples was there,” Mascherano admitted to Il Mattino.
“With Rafa [Benitez] I have a great relationship but he knows that I could not go and how things are.
“I’ll finish my career in Spain as I am very happy here.”
