Benitez napoliCarlo Pallavicino, agent of Galatasaray forward Goran Pandev, believes that Napoli boss Rafa Benitez is not fit to coach in the Serie A and feels his arrival in Naples had a negative effect on his client’s form.

The tactician signed on as Walter Mazzarri’s successor in May 2013 and led the Partenopei to a third place finish along with a Coppa Italia victory during his debut season with the Italian team, though the agent insists his presence at the Neapolitan side is what led to Pandev’s move to Turkey this summer.

Pallavicino spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport about his client’s decrease in form since the arrival of Benitez, but still claimed Napoli had served as a fine home for the Macedonian forward up until his departure.

“The arrival of Benitez in the place of Mazzarri had penalised Goran, who wasn’t able to be at his best and played a bit subdued,” said the agent.

“The Spanish tactician is not suited for the Italian championship. He is a fine coach, but he does not know how to improve the squad’s attitude and provide team spirit.

“Pandev cared less about the money in order to come play at Napoli, under my advice and insistence. I was sure that the Partenopei would be a team that could give him warmth and satisfaction, and so it was.”
