Sampdoria striker Stefano Okaka states that there was too much pressure on his shoulders when he made his debut with Roma at just 16 years of age in 2005.

The now 25 year old looks to have finally settled down at Sampdoria having played for an incredible eight clubs already during his career, with the powerful striker netting six goals in 14 appearances for the Blucerchiati  since joining in January.

“At 17 years of age at Roma there were many pressures on me,” Okaka told Sky Sport Italia. “That was the past and now I have grown.”

“It was not easy for me to play with those great champions. Only now I am understanding what it means to play at a high level and have fun on the field.”

Okaka maintains he still has friends from his time at the capital, and can count Giallorossi icons Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi as two of them.

“Totti I heard from four or five days ago, I’m still close with both him and Daniele De Rossi.

“I’m back on the right path that I left three or four years ago, so I am happy about this, and I thank Sampdoria coach [Sinisa] Mihajlovic for giving me this opportunity.”
