Palermo have been told their attempts to sign Bari striker Joao Silva are null and void – after filing the paperwork less than a minute too late.

The deadline for Italian clubs to complete transfers was 23:00 CET, leading to a mad scramble in the final minutes at the famous Ata Hotel.

The Rosanero had been looking to replace striker Abel Hernandez, who signed for Hull City earlier on deadline day in a club record fee, and identified the Portuguese hitman as their number one priority.

However, the former Portugal U21 international’s move will not be allowed to go ahead after the paperwork was filed 33 seconds after the 23:00 deadline.
