Parma captain Alessandro Lucarelli has said that star winger Jonathan Biabiany has the full support of the team in light of his heart problem.

It was recently revealed that the 26-year-old’s deadline day transfer to AC Milan had collapsed after medical tests had found an irregular heartbeat.

The Frenchman has since been ruled out of action for the foreseeable future and Lucarelli told the assembled media he can count on the support of his teammates.

“What happened to Jonathan is one of those things that go beyond the football field,” he said.

“He is in a delicate situation. He knows that he has our full support, we are close to him.

“He is having the necessary investigations. At this time he remains calm. He knows he can count on us, we expect him back as soon as possible.

“Lacking players like him, [Mattia] Cassani and [Gabriel] Paletta, leaves you missing something.”

It is hoped that Paletta’s injury will not keep him out for too long as defender Cassani will spend a few months on the sidelines after back surgery.

Parma currently sit bottom of Serie A after defeats to Cesena and AC Milan, but go to Chievo on Sunday hoping to turn things around.

“[The absence of important players is] all the more reason we must redouble our efforts to reverse our course.

“When you play together for many years, you are well organised and automatic; you know it almost by heart.

“It’s normal that new teammates are not well oiled in these mechanisms, but we train every day together and we are all players in Serie A so we can still be up to it.”
