Serie A Scudetto hopefuls Roma have had an offer to sign Parma defender Gabriel Paletta refused by the Emilia-Romagna club.

The Giallorossi, having recently sold centre back Mehdi Benatia to Bayern Munich, are still looking for re-enforcements and the Italian international seemed to fit the bill.

Sky Sport Italia are reporting that Parma sporting director Pietro Leonardi not only turned down the deal tabled by Roma but also a second offer from an unnamed foreign club.

The Argentina-born defender has been at the Ducali since 2010 and last season’s impressive displays earned him a call up to the Azzurri squad that travelled to the World Cup in Brazil.  Paletta played in Italy’s only victory of the tournament, a 2-1 win over England.
