Roma’s Miralem Pjanic feels his side are in much better shape compared to last term scintillating return to Champions League football against CSKA Moscow.
The Giallorossi thumped the Russian side 5-1 at the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday evening in their opening tie of Group E.
“For us it was important to win and we played well and created all the chances. Our quality has paid off as we played great,” Pjanic told Mediaset Premium.
The Bosnian then when on to reflect upon the club’s difficult group which also includes Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
“Certainly there is plenty of quality in the Champions League and like us many teams play open football. The group is very difficult but to win three points this evening may already be decisive.
“Tonight was a test of our maturity. In the summer we reinforced with players of quality and we have a more complete team which is stronger than last season.”
Roma’s next game in the competition will be away to Manchester City on September 30.
