Fiorentina earned their first win of the season on Thursday night as they defeated Guingamp 3-0 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in the Europa League.
It was a dull opening to the match and as soon as the away side were reduced to 10 men, the Viola opened up the French side and won convincingly.
Goals from Juan Manuel Vargas, Juan Cuadrado and highly rated youngster Federico Bernardeschi sealed the win for the Italian outfit.

Fiorentina
Ciprian Tatarusanu – 6 – Aware
The Romanian goalkeeper was rarely tested on the night, but did well to save a Claudio Beauvue effort that was destined for the top corner in the second half.
Nenad Tomovic – 6 – Adventurous
The right-back went on numerous runs forward and put in some good crosses that should have been taken advantage of.
Jose Maria Basanta – 6 – Comfortable
Summer signing Basanta was rarely troubled by the Guingamp attack in which will be one of his easier nights of the season.
Stefan Savic – 6 – Commanding
Former Manchester City defender was in the same boat as partner Basanta and the Montenegrin made some good tackles also.
Manuel Pasqual – 5 – Complacent
The left-back made a few sloppy passes and could have contributed more to his side’s attack.
Borja Valero – 5 – Ineffective
One of last seasons stand-out performers for the Viola could not get things working for his side. Tried various one-two’s but gave the ball away too often.
David Pizarro – 7- Mixed
The Chilean had a mixed night after making a variety of inaccurate passes but then serving a sumptuous pass for Cuadrado to score the second goal.
Jasmin Kurtic – 7 – Tricky
The former Torino man beat his marker the majority of the time and delivered a pin-point cross for Vargas to head in the first.
Juan Cuadrado – 8 – Lively
The winger was involved all the time whilst showcasing his skills. Took his goal expertly with a killer first touch and a cool finish into the top corner.
Mario Gomez – 4 – Passenger
A night to forget for the German international. A goal disallowed in the first half for offside and barely made any runs for his team-mates. Very static.
Juan Manuel Vargas – 7 – Positive
Took his goal well reacting to the ball before the defender and firing his header into the corner and also made some good through balls.
Substitutes
Milan Badelj – 6 – Steady
The midfielder replaced the poor Valero and put in a solid performance in the middle of the park.
Micah Richards – 7 – Involved
The Englishman got forward at every opportunity while creating a few chances for his teammates.
Federico Bernardeschi – 7 – Exciting
Replaced Cuadrado and the dynamic youngster scored a lovely goal from 25 yards giving the keeper no chance.
Guingamp
Mamadou Samassa – 6 – Unlucky
Made a good few saves, but had no chance with any of the goals. Let down by his defence.
Baissama Sankoh – 6 – Stable
The right-back was beaten for the first goal by Vargas but did get forward and tried to make something happen.
Christophe Kerbrat – 6 – Solid
Dealt with the static Gomez well but could have closed down the shot by Bernardeschi for the third goal.
Benjamin Angoua – 5 – Limited
Tried to help his left-back deal with Cuadrado but failed. Poor marking for second goal.
Dorian Leveque – 5 – Poor
Came up against a difficult player in Cuadrado who was on form, could have defended better against him.
Jeremy Pied – 5 – Wasteful
The left-midfielder was poor with his deliveries from free-kicks and corners.
Moustapha Diallo – 4 – Reckless
The midfielder made two late challenges and was dismissed in the first half. Let his team down who were doing fine at the time.
Lionel Mathis – 5 – Disappointing
Could not keep possession in the final third when it was most important to.
Claudio Beauvue – 6 – Dangerous
The forward came the closest for the away side when he stung the fingertips of Tatarusanu from 25 yards out.
Sylvain Marveaux – 5 – Ineffective
The on-loan Newcastle midfielder found it difficult to keep possession and was also booked in the first half.
Christophe Mandanne – 5 – Isolated
Suffered as a result of the French side being down to ten men and not offering enough support to the striker.
